I've noticed women often put themselves last, neglecting self-care and missing out on pursuing their passions.

Independence can feel overwhelming when simple tasks become difficult.

Though at Women Warrior Wisdom.ca, we can't stop time, but with yoga and strength exercises, we can help maintain mobility and strength for independent living.

My goal is to empower women to prioritize their health and well-being, promoting graceful aging.

My name is Tracey Graham, and I am your fellow traveler on this journey through life.

My qualifications include being a Certified Professional Consultant on Aging, a Professional Elder Planning Consultant, a Federal Government Certified of Canada Peer Coach, a certified practitioner of Functional Imagery Training, a Certified yoga instructor across various styles, and I am also a widow.

The sudden loss of my spouse at 49 left me to raise three teenage sons alone, manage our home, uphold a full-time job, and navigate an entirely new existence. These experiences have honed my skills as an adept Agent of Change.

Through personal experience, I've learned the critical importance of physical self-sufficiency for personal and home care. I've had to assume numerous roles and responsibilities unexpectedly and independently.

Life offers no certainties. Our time here is unknown, but we can anticipate the quality of our future lives based on our current physical condition.

My goal is to spark your motivation to prioritize your well-being so that you can maintain self-care as you grow older.

As a modern woman, you recognize the need to take charge of your self-care and personal needs. You understand that being self-reliant means preparing now for your desired lifestyle in your 90s, especially if you wish to age in place independently.

Now, I pose a question to you. Reflect on your past week and honestly assess how much time you dedicated to your well-being.

Is it sufficient to sustain an independent lifestyle in the years ahead?

The scientific evidence supporting the benefits of yoga continues to expand.

You've likely heard about yoga's health advantages before. And, akin to wine, our proficiency can improve with age!

I operate a pro-aging or age-friendly business, backed by my prior certifications as a Consultant on Aging and an Elder Planning Consultant.

Most recently, I have obtained certification as a Functional Imagery Training Practitioner (FIT).

FIT is an innovative approach to behavioral change that is exceptionally effective (five times more so) at aiding individuals in making lifestyle adjustments. It employs a person-centered counseling/coaching method to instruct individuals, in just four hours, on utilizing mental imagery to enhance motivation, desire, and confidence in achieving personal objectives.

FIT is versatile and has been applied to various scenarios, including altering eating patterns, treating alcohol dependency, improving soccer penalty kick performance, managing anxiety, and even motivating individuals to transition from sedentary lifestyles to ultra-marathon runners—all studies have reported a fivefold increase in success rates. Astonishing!

As we conclude our yoga session with Savasana (Corpse pose) accompanied by guided imagery and relaxation, integrating imagery at this juncture is an excellent FIT—both literally and metaphorically.

Whether you embark on your self-care and well-being journey by participating in a yoga class, retreat, individual instruction, attending a presentation, or workshop, this is merely the start.

A mindful yoga practice can transform you into a better individual. In turn, better individuals nurture themselves and others, ultimately contributing to a more harmonious world.

With exceptional training and resources, Women Warrior Wisdom has earned the designation of an Age Friendly Business.

Additionally, as a certified practitioner of Functional Imagery Training (FIT), I would like to share some insights. FIT is grounded in two decades of research that demonstrates mental imagery's potent emotional charge compared to other forms of thought. It is this vivid mental imagery that often gives drug and food cravings their compelling influence, overshadowing other thoughts. However, this same mechanism can drive us toward achieving new, positive goals despite challenges. Adopting the FIT approach to change has been scientifically validated to assist individuals in losing up to five times more weight than other established weight loss interventions, as published in the International Journal of Obesity in 2019.
